European Day of Languages: Celebrating Europe’s linguistic and cultural diversity

This week, Brightonians came together to celebrate the European Day of Languages – a wonderful occasion highlighting linguistic diversity and intercultural understanding. Pupils across the school enjoyed a range of exciting activities.
“There’s been a real buzz around the School this week, from pupils racing to find flags in the scavenger hunt, to IB pupils getting ready for their Primary lessons, and the Escape Room challenge where pupils put their linguistic skills to the test to complete tasks”, said Mr Jason René Dudley, Head of Modern Foreign Languages.
At Brighton College Vietnam, we are committed to integrating world languages into our curriculum to cultivate global citizens. Learning a foreign language opens the door to other cultures, fostering curiosity and deepening pupils’ understanding of the world. Brightonians have the opportunity to study Mandarin, French, and Spanish as part of the main curriculum, with Italian offered as a CCA.
The European Day of Languages, celebrated every year since 2001 on 26 September, is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the richness of languages and cultures in Europe as well as encourage people to discover the fun of learning new languages.
