For Hoai An (Y11), mathematics is more than numbers – it is a language of patterns and a different way of seeing the world. This curiosity and determination have guided him through challenges and discoveries, leading to international recognition: a Gold Medal at the International Mathematics Contest in Singapore 2025.

His love for mathematics began early, sparked by logic puzzles and the satisfaction of solving problems.  “Curiosity inspired me to study beyond the classroom,” he says, “and to challenge myself through competitions.”

Preparation for the gold medal demanded discipline and perseverance. “The greatest challenge was consistency,” he shares. “There were times I spent hours struggling with a single problem. But I kept going, knowing that perseverance would ultimately be rewarded.”

Along the way, Hoai An gained more than mathematical skills. He developed resilience, time management, and focus under pressure. “The encouragement and support of my teachers and peers at Brighton College Vietnam were a tremendous source of strength, giving me the confidence to aim higher and go further,” Hoai An said.

Since 2005, the International Mathematics Contest has brought together pupils across many countries and territories. More than a competition, it is a platform that inspires young people to embrace mathematics, logical thinking, and problem-solving.
