IGCSE Journey: The process of self-discovery

As one of our very first IGCSE candidates at Brighton College Vietnam, Duc Minh achieved an impressive 9 grades at A*/9/8 and A across Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Design Technology, Vietnamese, Business, English Language and English Literature. It is a result that reflects steady effort and two years of consistent hard work.

For Duc Minh, success was built on reflection. Each assessment and teacher report gave him the chance to recognise his strengths and pinpoint areas for improvement. This process of self-discovery became just as valuable as the results themselves.

Throughout his IGCSE journey, Minh explored a diverse range of subjects that challenged him in different ways. Balancing them all was no easy task, yet it not only developed the confidence and discipline that will serve him well in the years ahead but also gave him valuable preparation for the IB Diploma.

“Just like how the IB is a bridge between school and university, the IGCSE is a bridge between middle school and the IB. Having to study a wide range of subjects at once definitely helped me to be more familiar with the rigorous curriculum that is to come.” Minh said.
